Dental Bridges

Restore Your Smile and Replace Missing Teeth
A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) solution used to replace one or more missing teeth. It helps restore the look and function of your smile by filling the gap left by missing teeth.
A bridge is anchored in place using the natural teeth on either side of the gap. These supporting teeth, called abutments, are fitted with crowns. The replacement tooth or teeth in the middle, called pontics, connect to the abutments to complete the bridge.
Dental bridges are made using durable materials such as porcelain, metal alloys, or porcelain fused to metal.
Why You Might Need a Dental Bridge
Dental bridges are recommended for:
- Replacing one or more missing teeth
- Preventing surrounding teeth from shifting out of place
- Improving your ability to speak and chew properly
- Restoring the appearance of your smile
- Completing full mouth rehabilitation or implant therapy
How the Dental Bridge Procedure Works
The procedure usually involves two appointments:
- The supporting teeth (abutments) are prepared, and impressions are taken.
- A temporary bridge is placed to protect the area while your permanent bridge is being made at a dental lab.
- At your next visit, the final bridge is tried in to check the fit and then cemented permanently into place.
What Happens If You Don’t Replace a Missing Tooth?
Missing teeth can cause surrounding teeth to shift or drift out of place. This may lead to:
- Increased risk of tooth decay
- Uneven bite and jaw discomfort
- Changes in the appearance of your smile
- Difficulty chewing or speaking
